Postcard from a Kazakh yurt on the grassy shores of Lake Sayram (Back in China!)

Moving inAh, the good life: some warm dung-cooked bread, a hot pot of fresh cow’s-milk salted tea, and a nice lake view from one’s yurt. And for us, to be back where the lingua franca between us and these Kazakhs here (for answering probing questions about Obama vs. Bush vs. Hu Jintao, of course) is Chinese. So with only a few more days in Central Asia left, we’re making the best of them.
